MIHCA May 2026 Update

LOAN EQUIPMENT PROGRAM offers a variety of equipment to borrow free of charge.  Equipment includes wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, shower chairs, toilet seats, etc.  Regardless of whether you are a patient of the Health Centre, contact the Health Centre at 250-539-2312 to confirm availability. Before borrowing equipment, a Waiver of Liability & Release Agreement needs to be completed and signed.

We would like to thank Colleen Proctor and Dave Ewanchuk for the MANY years they have cleaned and maintained the equipment, an essential component of operating this program.

NEW CARDIAC EQUIPMENT ABOARD AMBULANCE  Our ambulance is now equipped with a mobile ECG machine. This significant enhancement provides immediate and ongoing monitoring of cardiac activity, allowing paramedics to confirm or rule out health issues and to provide the appropriate care. It monitors various vital signs and transmits data to hospitals. It also functions as a defibrillator so paramedics can quickly respond to evolving emergencies. A huge thanks to our paramedics for their dedication to advancing their training and skills. This equipment is only available to ambulance stations whose paramedics have particularly high levels of training.

DANCE WELLNESS PROGRAM organizers invite you to join them each Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Agricultural Hall for an afternoon of free country dancing with a measure of ballroom and contra dance thrown in. If you can walk you can dance - no prior experience or special partner is necessary. A great way to meet new people, participate in gentle aerobic exercise engaging both body and mind.

COVID BOOSTER CLINIC

Wednesday May 20th at the Agricultural Hall from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. This vaccination clinic is specifically for people 65 years of age or older; Indigenous; and individuals with underlying medical conditions. Watch for more details on our website and Facebook page.

HEALTH FAIR Please join us at our annual health fair at the Agricultural Hall on Saturday May 9th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. It promises to be another great event!

We are very pleased that representatives from the Rural and Remote Division of Family Practice will be at our Health Fair to answer your questions about the Provincial Health Connect Registry - the only official waiting list for people looking for a health care provider. Authorized coordinators will be on hand to help you and family members register if you haven’t already done so. Bring your care card(s) or driver’s licence(s) with you! More details about the Health Fair will be posted shortly. What is the Health Connect Registry? Go to: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/find-care/health-connect-registry
